The Zombies

The Zombies in their 1960’s heyday.

I told you guys a few days ago about some of the shows I’m really excited about in 2013.

Since then, there have already been a few more cool concert announcements I wanted to pass along.

First, the Dallas City Performance Hall will host “John Denver: A Rocky Mountain High Concert Celebration” on Feb. 20. The performance will be video footage of the late singer backed by a live performance with former members of his band and a string section. Sounds pretty cool to me. I wore out “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” when I was a kid. And, of course, I loved “Oh, God.”

Next, the Kessler Theater¬†welcomes English psychedelic rockers the Zombies on March 13. The band scored three big United States hits with “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No,” and the amazing “Time of the Season.” The Zombies’ Odyssey and Oracle album from 1968 is widely regarded as a masterpiece. Agreed.

Finally, the Black Crowes return to town with an April 25 show at House of Blues. I have somehow, someway managed to have never seen this band, which I really like a lot. I plan to remedy that on my 44th birthday.

Until next time.
