SMU logoSMU (8-3) plays in the 46th annual Cable Car Classic hosted by Santa Clara on Friday and Saturday. The Mustangs face Wagner (4-4) in the first semifinal on Friday at 8 p.m. CT/6 p.m. PT. The other semifinal is Alcorn State (2-8) against Santa Clara (9-2). The championship and third-place games are Saturday evening. The Cable Car Classic is the second tournament of the season for SMU. The Mustangs went 3-1 in the Hoops for Hope Classic, winning the third-place game 62-61 against Missouri State. SMU enters the event 3-2 on the road and 1-1 in neutral-site games. After the Classic, SMU will have played nine of its first 13 games away from home.

UP NEXT: After the Cable Car Classic, SMU has three home games. SMU hosts Furman on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m., then Wyoming on Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. before opening Conference USA action by hosting Tulsa on Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. in an FSN-televised matchup.
